CAN-BUS is a common industrial bus because of its long travel distance, medium communication speed and high reliability. It is commonly found on modern machine tools and as an automotive diagnostic bus. This CAN-BUS Shield adopts MCP2515 CAN Bus controller with SPI interface and MCP2551 CAN transceiver to give your Arduino/Seeeduino CAN-BUS capibility. With an OBD-II converter cable added on and the OBD-II library imported, you are ready to build an onboard diagnostic device or data logger.

Can I use the DB9 connector for the CANH and CANL or is it only for OBDII?

Yes, but is the DB9 connector expecting only OBD pinning (lo on pin 5, hi on pin 6, gnd on pin 4) or does it simultaneously support standard can pinning (lo on pin 2, hi on pin 7, gnd on pin 3) ?

<p>Hi Randy, on the new version CS pin is connected to D9 by default. So the code should be changed to “MCP_CAN CAN(9);” for new CAN BUS shield.</p>

Hi,
If you ever do another PCB revision, would you consider adding a solder bridge to select where the interrupt pin goes to (pin 2 or pin 3 ). Then the user could configure it in the same way as the chip select (pin 9 or 10) by cutting and solderi
